Come join the Queen City Rotary in the 4th Annual Bed Race
Sunday, May 25th from 1-3PM.
What is Bed Racing?
It's easy and exciting. You take four runners to push the bed with the 5th Team member riding in the bed. Once the team is ready at the starting line, with runners positioned at each corner of the bed, the official gives the signal and you are off! The race can be an obstacle course, or a race against another team.
All the proceeds are used to assist charities benefiting children in our community. Contact your local Rotarian or Jean Esslinger for more information, jeanesslinger@verizon.net.
Building a bed is easy. It has to have 4 wheels and a mattress. See the race brochure for complete regulations. Use your imagination in decorating your bed and getting team members in costume. Prizes are awarded for creativity, so have fun with it.
2007 Queen City Bed Race Wrap-Up
The 2007 Queen City Bed Race was a terrific success, with wide-eyed racers pushing their decorated beds through a whirlwind course. The 3rd annual race featured local business, school and non-profit teams competing as a part of the Jazz and Blues Festival on Hanover Street in Manchester. The teams competed for prizes and awards for speed and creativity. This year, by carefully managing the project, we were able to donate every penny raised through sponsorships and entry fees to local charities benefiting children in our community. Queen City Rotary raised just over $3,000 at this year's event.
Watch for more details to come shortly for the 4th Annual Queen City Bed Race! Hope to see you there.
