Queen City Rotary Club announces annual grant recipients, distributes over $46,000 to local non-profits
May 16, 2019, A healthy helping of community engagement was on the menu recently at the Puritan Backroom as the Queen City Rotary Club (QCRC) held its annual Grant Awards Breakfast.
“This event is one of the highlights of our year,” said Lisa Lally, President, Queen City Rotary Club. “Not only does our club get the opportunity to recognize and thank local non-profits, we are able to learn more about their impactful work.”
Ms. Lally, QCRC President-Elect Ann Butenhof and club members welcomed more than 50 non-profits to the Grants Breakfast and distributed over $46,000 in charitable grants. “At the center of everything our club does is the health, support and well-being of area children,” noted Ms. Lally. “All of these great organizations are dedicated to helping kids in need and we are thrilled to support their efforts.”

With a strong focus on youth at risk, the Queen City Rotary Club holds two major fund-raisers each year (The Queen City Quest each October and the Comedy Bowl each January). Club members also engage in dozens of community service projects annually. Recent efforts have included: community service projects at the Webster House, Manchester Police Athletic League, the Boys and Girls Club of Manchester, Riverwalk along the Merrimack River and bell ringing in support of the Salvation Army. Club members also supported community events for Girls, Inc., Catie’s Closet, Mae A Wish and Court Appointed Special Advocates.
“We’re completely volunteer driven,” noted Ms. Butenhof. “Our membership is currently 70 strong and comprised primarily of community organizations and small business owners. Our members organize all of the special events as well as community service projects and everyone contributes via financial donations and volunteer service.”
The Club meets each Thursday at the Puritan Back Room at 7:30 a.m.
